ANGLEPOISE Type 75 Desk Lamp - Margaret Howell Edition

Abandon darkness with classic lighting by ANGLEPOISE.

Adapted from the suspension mechanisms used for vehicles, the first ANGLEPOISE task lamp was created in 1932 by George Carwardine. Its signature multi-spring, adjustable tension arm allowed for greater flexibility and improved functionality to suit all types of activities.

The Type 75 collection by Sir Kenneth Grange reinterprets the classic features of the now discontinued Apex 90 desk lamp into a playful, contemporary design with clean, simple form and pared-down aesthetics. Since its introduction in 2004, it has rapidly become the bestselling product series within the ANGLEPOISE catalogue.

British clothing designer Margaret Howell has long been a champion of the ANGLEPOISE lamp, citing the many overlapping design qualities between the brand and her own creative work as part of the reason for her devotion. Having spent many childhood years completing her schoolwork under the stalwart light of an ANGLEPOISE design and later amassing a small collection of various coloured styles from the 1960s and 70s, this recent collaboration between ANGLEPOISE and the designer represents the fruition of a lifelong appreciation and passion for the brand. For this collection, Howell chose four vibrant hues that she felt would act as a great accent colour in both a domestic and work setting.
